Unflavored gelatin has no flavor of its own and contains no sugar, unlike many flavored gelatins which contain mostly sugar as well as artificial flavors and colors. This makes unflavored gelatin extremely versatile: It can be used to create desserts, salads, main dishes, jams and jellies, even ice cream and frozen yogurt!

Unflavored gelatin granules must be separated before a hot liquid is added or you're guaranteed to have lumps. You can separate the granules by mixing the gelatine with either sugar or a cold liquid. Then add the hot liquid, stir and there will be no lumping!

Use 1 tablespoon of gelatin to 2 cups of liquid. When a recipe calls for 1 envelope of plain gelatin, use 1 tablespoon.

This Unflavored Gelatin acts as a stabilizer or thickener and is often used in reduced fat products to create a desired texture.
